Today was a good day. I got rid of several random things
throughout the day. Returning items,
gift giving, a couple of random donations here and there. But my favorite purge
of the day was costumes. The girls went
through their costume bin and had to decide what to keep and what to give away. We were sorting into two piles: Keep and give
away. At first everything went into the
keep pile of course. How could they
possibly part with tutus and princess dresses? But we had a nice chat about
giving stuff to other people and not needing doubles of princesses and only
keeping what we will play with.
After the conversation (and what I understand
to be great comprehension by a four year old) Eleni probably would have given
her right arm to who ever needed it. This girl LOVES, LOVES, LOVES to dress up.
She is in a costume about 80% of the time. But when I told her she had to make
some choices, she gave away more than she kept.
The heart and innocence of my children is such a valuable and convicting
learning tool. Today was a good purge… good for the costume bin and good for
the heart.:)
